Lunt Linked With Alex Return

Wednesday midfielder Kenny Lunt has been linked with a return to former club Crewe after being told he can leave Hillsborough on loan.

The Runcorn-born midfielder, who started his career at Alex, has fallen down the pecking order under Owls boss Brian Laws since the return of Steve Watson from injury and has been made available for loan.

And Crewe assistant manager Neil Baker revealed that the club have discussed taking Lunt back to his former hunting ground.

We have discussed Kenny, and if it wasn't for the midfield boys we've got here we might be tempted to do something,' he told the Evening Sentinel.

'Kenny is a good player, we know that, but we have got to balance that with what we've already got.'

The midfielder, who celebrates his 28th birthday next week, made 343 league starts for Alex after coming through their famous youth set-up, but made the move to S6 in the summer of 2006 under former Owls boss Paul Sturrock.

Our sister site, Vital Walsall, also reported that Lunt was a target for the Saddlers, with the club keen to bolster their midfield options.

Well if it wasn't going to be Sturrock and Swindon it was always going to be Crewe. Thank god for that.
will it ever happen
not sure if this can be true, the only reason Lunt came to wednesday was that crewe couldn't afford to match the wages we offered

Was really excited about signing lunt when he first came to Hillsborough, his record was good at crew and reknown apparently for his set piece ability. I dont know whether there was a mix up in the credentials when he was suggested to the owls to sign and info about him put to press must have been wrong cos the lunt on paper isnt the lunt we signed. A real dissapointment, will be good to get rid and sign new blood.

Crewe manager states that it would be nice for him to come back, but he wont allow this as he wants his team to show what they can do, and he doesn't see what benefit this would be. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ah, how much you pay for him?

He is a fantastic player and your manager would be a fool not to take him back to Crewe.
will it ever happen
