Lunt Links Denied

Following rumours that Kenny Lunt was set for a return to Crewe on loan, the League One club have played down links with the midfielder.

Lunt, who came through the famous youth ranks at Gresty Road, had been one of a number of Wednesday players made available for loan by boss Brian Laws in recent weeks.

And Alex were one of the favourites to bag the services of the midfielder, who has fallen down the pecking order at Hillsborough following the arrival of Steve Watson in the close season.

But Crewe first-team coach Steve Holland told Crewe's website: 'I would like to give our own players a chance.

'I'd rather do that then bring someone on a short-term loan, although we know how influential Kenny is.'

Meanwhile, the links with Crewe continue with the Owls linked with their former striker Luke Rodgers, who now plies his trade at Port Vale.

Reports in the Stoke Sentinal suggest Brian Laws could well be weighing up a move for the hitman to reunite him with former strike partner Akpo Sodje in the January transfer window.
