Burnley Approach Laws

Wednesday have revealed they've rejected an approach from Burnley to talk to manager Brian Laws over the vacant manager's position at Turf Moor.

The Clarets and Steve Cotterill parted company only recently and the Burnley board are currently on the search for a successor - with Laws looking to be top of the list.

But the Owls' board have turned down the approach to speak to their man over the job - and have hit out at the Lancashire club after making their approach public knowledge.

'I am extremely disappointed that Burnley have released this information, given that their chairman, Barry Kilby, spoke to me only yesterday; asking if they could approach Brian Laws; we told them no,' Owls chief executive Kaven Walker said.

'I was given an assurance that they would not make the issue public.

'Over a year ago we asked permission to speak to their manager (Cotterill); they said no, and they requested that we said nothing in the media, and we didn't.'

Owls boss Brian Laws was himself subject to a possible sacking just a matter of weeks ago, but has since turned round the Owls' fortunes to lift them to within six points of the play-off spots.

Just giving the others a head start thats all!!

Itt would be a very sad day for the club if the likes of Burnley could steal are manager. Plus Law's would be in the spare room for a long time.
