Glenn Whelan was forced to leave the field after half an hour of last night's B international, following a bad tackle from Craig Armstrong.

Steve Howard salvaged a 1-1 draw for Scotland on a cold night in Airdrie with a late equaliser after Richie Byrne had given the Republic of Ireland a deserved lead after 66 minutes.

But the focus for Sheffield Wednesday fans is now the health of key midfielder Whelan, put out of the game by the Sheffield United full-back.

Here's hoping his injury is not too serious, as we await further news from Hillsborough and the Irish camp.

I dont know how bad it is yet but if he's out until the end of January then this might be a blessing in disguise.

Think we will really struggle without him and it looks like Kav is to expensive to come back, what ever happened to speculate to accumulate.
