Clarke Set To Depart

Leon Clarke's short stay at Hillsborough is set to end with the in-form striker set to discuss terms about a permanant move to Southend United.

The former Wolves man was shipped out to the League One club earlier in the season after failing to make an impact in the Owls' starting eleven - and has impressed the Shrimpers' fans with seven goals in just 11 matches during his loan stint so far.

Many Owls fans always believed Clarke's loan move to Roots Hall would become permanant come January, and now the club are set to sit down and discuss personal terms with the striker to complete the move once his loan deal expires at the start of 2008.

It's thought Wednesday paid around £200,000 to Wolves for his services, and the Owls are looking to recoup their money to give Brian Laws extra funds to purchase players in the January transfer window.

Am a bit surprised, thought he would have been given more of a chance by Laws. Can do job at Championship level, Col U should move for him... :)

A deal was done straight away when he went their, just personal terms to be agreed. I reckon we will get about £100k for him!!
will it ever happen
Think he has found his level, not good enough for the top end of the championship, and thats where we will be shortly.
