Gone For A Burton

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has suffered a blow in the run up to Saturday's clash with Colchester by hearing striker Deon Burton will be sidelined through injury for two weeks.

The former Derby hitman played for the Owls' reserves in their 2-0 victory over Leeds reserves at Elland Road in midweek, and picked up strained ligament damagement in the clash.

Burton is likely to be missing the Owls' vital clashes with Colchester tomorrow, Southampton next Tuesday, and the home match with Coventry City the following Saturday.

And the news could well mean Wade Small is given the chance to impress in attack from the bench, with Burton coming on from the subs bench in the Owls' last six matches.

Small has been used in a midfield role this season, but Laws is confident the former MK Dons man can also impress in attack, with no other attacking options available for Wednesday in light of Burton's injury.

Need to get rid in January. He is now just a last ten, fifteen minute sub who BL sends on to hold the ball up when we are 1-0 up. It's time others were used instead of him.
will it ever happen
couldnt agree more wieh time for him to go and let breaking the laws get someone else in

He'll bag a brace against your lot tomorrow Col U, don't worry! ;) Burton has only been used as a last 20 - 15 min sub anyway lately...
NicNac
We've been wondering since pre-season if Small could do the job up front.. now we might get a chance to find out.
Auckland Owl
StevieG Col U any chance you can stick to the Colchester page instead of spamming every news item here? Or would you like it if we all started spamming inane comments to every Colchester news item just so we can rise up the irrelevant poster activity table to try to feel good about our sad, insignificant lives?
Placebo
Harsh, Placebo. Listen, I know his comments are a little hard, but it's banter. Football as a whole, to the millions who watch it, really doesn't matter. Your posts are just as insignificant as his.
Matt_Us
get back to tractor land you guys. well answering your question no small carnt play up front after that satdi
mick66owl
It's a public forum; don't see why I need to, although I've not really got a reason to stick on here - if you don't want objective views from other fans, then that's fine. Tractor land is Ipswich...!

@Matt_Us "Your posts are just as insignificant as his."........If I were spamming posts on the Colchester news page simply to get my name higher up in a sad little posting activity chart, then yes my posts would be insignificant, however as I'm a Sheffield Wednesday supporter posting on the Sheffield Wednesday page this is where I'm actually supposed to be posting, if it continues I'll have no option but to return the favour.
