Owls Bag Showunmi

Owls Bag Showunmi

Wednesday boss Brian Laws had swooped quickly to add to his attacking options by bagging Bristol City striker Enoch Showunmi on an emergency one-month loan deal.

The Owls were down to just two fit strikers in the shape of Marcus Tudgay and Deon Burton following injuries to Akpo Sodje, Francis Jeffers and Leon Clarke within the last week.

And Showunmi has arrived at S6 just in time for the Owls' vital Championship clash with Ipswich Town at Hillsborough on Saturday - a match Laws and his charges will be desperate to win to keep out of the relegation spots.

The 25-year-old has made ten appearances for the impressive Robins this season, bagging three goals along the way and being a vital part of the City side that achieved promotion last season.

The Nigerian-capped striker will be available up to and including the Owls' clash with Barnsley on Saturday, March 1, but won't be available for selection against his employers when Wednesday make the trip to Ashton Gate on February 9.

The wife supports Luton, so i've seen him play quite a few times, he's quite a tidy player. Granted he ain't going to set the league alight but I reckon he could do a job.

Whelan has gone and Kav is back along with Showumni, well what can I say........ hoped it wouldn't come to this. Great to see Kav again but along side Whelan would have been much better (although BL's hands are tied, best to get something for one of our best if not our best player rather than feck all in the summer). As for Showumni lets hope he can SHOWumni us what he's made of.... I know crap pun... The future is most definately not bright at S6.

Although I am shocked at the transfer of whelan, it dusnt sadden me too much. I paid alot of money out to see games at home againts Leicester, Burnley, Wolves, Colchester, Watford and Whelan was the poorest player on the pitch in most of these games. He lacked commitment - he tried once in every 3 or 4 games, especially this season. We need every player on the pitch to pull together and push in the right direction. We all know Kavanagh is quality and with his corners/free kicks they'l be quality delivery.
