Owls Bag Showunmi

Wednesday boss Brian Laws had swooped quickly to add to his attacking options by bagging Bristol City striker Enoch Showunmi on an emergency one-month loan deal.

The Owls were down to just two fit strikers in the shape of Marcus Tudgay and Deon Burton following injuries to Akpo Sodje, Francis Jeffers and Leon Clarke within the last week.

And Showunmi has arrived at S6 just in time for the Owls' vital Championship clash with Ipswich Town at Hillsborough on Saturday - a match Laws and his charges will be desperate to win to keep out of the relegation spots.

The 25-year-old has made ten appearances for the impressive Robins this season, bagging three goals along the way and being a vital part of the City side that achieved promotion last season.

The Nigerian-capped striker will be available up to and including the Owls' clash with Barnsley on Saturday, March 1, but won't be available for selection against his employers when Wednesday make the trip to Ashton Gate on February 9.

well at least we have someone in and its not hartson.looks a big powerful lad and at 25 not too old quite happy with that wonder if theres going to be anymore movement in or out with 6hrs to deadline
Very pleased with that, let's hope he can impress, we REALLY need him to.
rumour has it on radio sheffield there will be another 1 in and 1 out could whelan be the 1out hope not or is it lunt/gilbert hopefully. but if the 1in is kavanagh i think we all know what will happen yep thanks for the memories glen whelan
It makes me laugh that we have to borrow off the mighty Bristol City! God we are desperate! What an existence we live at S6! :(
Lets give the bloke a chance before we start to fet on his back. Some have already started on him!!
will it ever happen
The wife supports Luton, so i've seen him play quite a few times, he's quite a tidy player. Granted he ain't going to set the league alight but I reckon he could do a job.
hope he can, looks like we are really up the creek without a paddle, possible league 1 fodder now
Whelan has gone and Kav is back along with Showumni, well what can I say........ hoped it wouldn't come to this. Great to see Kav again but along side Whelan would have been much better (although BL's hands are tied, best to get something for one of our best if not our best player rather than feck all in the summer). As for Showumni lets hope he can SHOWumni us what he's made of.... I know crap pun... The future is most definately not bright at S6.
Sad night to be a Wednesdayite.
Although I am shocked at the transfer of whelan, it dusnt sadden me too much. I paid alot of money out to see games at home againts Leicester, Burnley, Wolves, Colchester, Watford and Whelan was the poorest player on the pitch in most of these games. He lacked commitment - he tried once in every 3 or 4 games, especially this season. We need every player on the pitch to pull together and push in the right direction. We all know Kavanagh is quality and with his corners/free kicks they'l be quality delivery.
wot are the chances of the 500k being spent on players in the summer? i would say there is **** all chance
we all know we needed experience in the middle, short term good signings, come the summer who knows! If kavanagh and wallwork commit beyond this and our strikers can avoid injury it could be interesting
carnt say we really surprised about whelan but he could have and probably would have gone for free in summer. they say laws will get whelan money to spend on wages and players well lets hope theres a couple of loans next week or will the money end up in someones back pocket like the bougherra and brunt money
not bothered bout whelan!!! only puts it in when we're losin to avoid critisism!!!
20mins on satdi b4 kav and numni are both injured. lets hope if he is allowed rest of whelan money we get johnson in from derby
still say kav and wallwork make us a stronger side, we need to get behind laws, he's a magician and he's pulling out all the stops with absolutely nothing to work with
dont think anyones knocking laws its just the way at hilsbora at moment sell to buy board is what people are knocking
Think I would prefer Kva, would like to see him on a longer deal when we get the chance. sounds like laws still has some money so the sale of whelan could be a very good thing for us
too many clubs have made money on players freed by weds (even the stinking piggies are at it now), it sticks in the throat, at least we got something out of this one, i don't believe for one moment whelen would have stayed, even if he had we havn't reached any dizzy heights while he was with us,
Kav is a good signing, sad to see Whelen go but at least we got half a million and not **** all come may. We now have a bit of physical strength in the side which we're gonna need as its gonna be one hell of a battle from now to the end of the season. Preston are the one to keep an eye on, they are starting to get their act together!
think we have done well out of it. no way whelan would have signed, so get some money for him and an experienced premership player in
good riddance!!!! iv said before 1 good season in 4 means he aint that good!!! 500k too.. .obviously not that good!! wish we still had folly n not lunt!!
Kav will do a job this season but thats it. Would still like to see Folly instead of Lunt.
will it ever happen
