England Awaits For Beevers

Despite relegation hanging firmly over our shoulders, Wednesday defender Mark Beevers at least has the silver lining of and England under-21 call-up to look forward to.

The 18-year-old centre back was put on standy-by for the squad last week but has now been moved in to the main squad for their match against Croatia at Swindon Town's County Ground tomorrow (Tuesday).

The Wednesday youth product was taken down to join the rest of the squad following the Owls' 2-1 defeat by Ipwswich Town on Saturday and will be training with the rest of the best young English talent ahead of tomorrow's clash.

Not only did Beevers enjoy the call-up, but he was named the Owls' player-of-the-month for February, earning the praise of boss Brian Laws after coming in to fill the gap at the back alongside Richard Hinds.

And the Barnsley-born defender will be hoping to enjoy another top-notch month to help ease the Owls' relegation fears.

Squad selction will get him even more noticed, Actually winning a cap for the U21s should add another mill on his transfer fee. While his departure will be a forgone conclusion - let's hope that Wednesday gamble and keep a hold until his value reaches full potential rather than cashing in too early... of course that might depend on which division we are playing in.
