Owls Eye Permanent Kav Deal

On-loan Sunderland midfielder Graham Kavanagh could well bag a permanent deal at Hillsborough in the summer if he impresses Owls boss Brian Laws, according to reports today.

The former Republic of Ireland international has been deemed surplus to requirements under Black Cats boss Roy Keane this season and is likely to fall further down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light when Keane strengthens his squad at the end of the season.

And the news means Kav will be looking for a new permanent home, with Wednesday being the favourites to sign the experienced midfielder in the summer should he impress in the blue and white for the remainder of the season and help the Owls avoid the drop.

Glenn Whelan was sold to Stoke City for 500,000 in the January transfer window after the Irishman turned down the offer of a new contract, and Laws could well see Kavanagh as the ideal replacement.

Lets just hope he can make an impact whilst hes here, And hopefully help us avoid the drop

Reports are saying it would cost us 200k for him, sorry but not for me. No probs for the rest of the season but that's it.
will it ever happen
Depends how much he'd cost I think and obviously how he does between now and the end of season. Rather have him in the middle than Watson, Lunt...who else have we got?? Don't see we have a lot of other options - can't see us bringing in anyone decent on the money we can offer
SuperOwls
if hes free then yes sign him up but we need some one at side of him who can do the spade work
mick66owl
Well in the Star today it say's BL is after a young midfielder from the prem, aswell as the striker who he is waiting for to make his mind up if he's coming or not!!
will it ever happen
Oh man wieh! I thought the striker was just a matter of putting pen to paper - you seem to suggest it's not a definite yet?? Can just see us losing out...again. Feeling depressed about everything today :-(
SuperOwls
Same here SO, but in the star it says that it's up to the striker now if he wants to come!!
will it ever happen
Think we need another midfilder including Kav so hope the reports in the star are true, wouldm't be offering Kav a new deal until summer anyway, if even
McQuaid-Owls
we havent got enough midfielders, give sean macallister a chance i always thought he did well wen he played

If Kav is a free transfer that doesn't break the wage budget then maybe he's worth an 18 month contract, but at his age you never know how long he will last physically.
Placebo
we have let 2 run all dayers in whelan and foley and we have been left with the non runners kav/wallwork/lunt /obrien/watson. we need a box to box player
mick66owl
BoB is the only one who covers a decent amount of ground. Most improved player this season after Tommy. Not seen enough of Ronnie yet to give fair judgement. Lenny is the biggest waste of space at the club. Kav and Watson need to up their games at this crucial time. We depserately need some young legs in the middle of the park like you say Mick. Gerrard on loan til the end of the season would do!

whelan didnt run all day!!! he ran all the last half hour wen we were losin to avoid stick!! wat goes on behind closed doors remains a mystery but coughlan, maclean n now folly have been let go for nothin cus laws didnt like them!! but he likes bullen n hinds so its ok!!
FUTURES BLUE N WHITE
think he let maclean go cos dave allen sed he was only allowed to offer the same contract he already had n cardiff offered a better 1 and laws sed folly never gave 100% in training
boothe
sorry carnt agee with you about whelan but thats what footballs about. but it was very obvious how much we missed whelan on satdi no bite and no box to box coverage
mick66owl
Have to agree with you mick, he ran all day and don't think Quinn ould have tore us apart half as easily on satday if Whelo was still here..
McQuaid-Owls
i dont think quin wudve tore us apart if frankie simek was there instaed of bullen whelan wunt had made a difference
boothe
He has done well for us so far and has had a decent career- notably at Stoke and Wigan. If we can get him on a free transfer and realistic wages then he will be agood addition to the squad. We need legs around him though
Gilley21
just what you need if your going to stay up tough call ..hope you make it
