Healy On Owls Hit List

Former Leeds United striker David Healy has been placed on Brian Laws' hit list as he looks to bolster his squad in a bid to escape the threat of relegation.

The Owls boss had revealed he was set to sign a proven Premiership goalscorer following last week's defeat to Ipswich Town which left Wednesday hovering over the relegation places.

Laws was set to bring Sunderland's former Leicester City striker David Connolly to Hillsborough, but the deal collapsed after the hitman suffered a groin injury prior to joining.

And now Laws looks to have turned his attentions to Northern Ireland's record-breaking goalscorer, and also hopes to have a midfielder in place for the weekend trip to Bristol City.

Laws told the Sheffield Star: 'The Premier League club had a couple of injuries so are going to have to put him in their first-team squad - I might readdress that one later. I'm looking to strengthen for the weekend, with a player from a Championship club who can give us more 'legs' in there and who knows the league.

'Ideally we would have had both Graham Kavanagh and Glenn Whelan, but that was not possible: without Whelan going there would have been no Kavanagh and no other loan players coming in.'

Laws could well have the duo in place for Tuesday night's visit of Charlton Athletic to Hillsborough, with funds available following the £500,000 sale of Glenn Whelan to Stoke City earlier this month.

Healy could be a good addition to the side if he shows the standard of football that he plays at international level, goals goals goals. Is he out of favour at Fulham? Why would he drop down to the championship? Any how hope he does. As for the midfield situation lets just hope BL can bring in a quality player with age on his side and the legs we so so need. Good luck Brian.
