| As soon as he wasn't selected for the Olympic team I expected the Beckham haters to pour out of the woodwork, what is it with these people? He's one dimensional, slow, lazy etc; etc. I'm sure that I'm not on my own in appreciating how much of the field he covers/covered, and how quickly he regained his position after spells of defensive work.
I am sad that he was not selected, he is still a wonderful ambassador for the game, his partnership with Gary Neville was very similar to that of Waddle and Nilsson, some folk know nowt about football. |

| agreed Becks will always be one of the true GREATS of the modern game. forget how much of the pitch he does or doesn't cover (which in my opinion is easily enough) he was in the right place to stick a first class ball in the box 99% of the time. If he was not put in the team for his crosses and ability to switch the play from 40-50 yards or his canny ability to lazily? get in the box to score his fair share of goals - then how about the fact he was and probably is still the best striker of a dead ball the game has ever seen. so mant times the entire team put in under rap performances and were being held or worse to Albania and the deaf school from down the road and Becks would pull a 30 yard free kick out of his arse and spare the blushes again.
in conclusion any English football fan that can't see the immense things Beckham has done for the English game needs their head read!
( this is my personal opinion don't hate me for it - any hate mail will be returned :) |

but I think it was right not to pick him for the Olympics

It looks very likely that he will make it onto the standby list, I have my fingers crossed that he will play, remember Paul Scholes spiro, if this one comes off I really am the daddy. |

| fair play boss - if he's still good enough
what I didn't agree with was the idea of picking Beckham on sentimental grounds
I fear they may have done that with Giggs - because he's never played in a world cup
if Giggs and Beckham are both among the best three over 23 year old players in Britain - that did not play for England in the Euros - then fair enough |

| At least he has experience in winning important games, unlike our northern paddy, jock and sheep shagging cousins. |

Bloody heck spiro loosen up a couple of notches. Other than for Giggs, any of the 5 Welsh, Zero Northern Ireland and Zero Scottish contingent, could be bettered by the inclusion of Beckham.
And bugger international level, league and European championships are worthy of consideration. |
