Wednesday's fate is firmly in their own hands as they look to secure their Championship status in their final three matches of the season - starting with a 'relegation six pointer' against Blackpool on Saturday.
The Owls pulled themselves out of the bottom three with a point against Plymouth Arglye - their seventh draw on the spin - and Wednesday could well equal the record eight drawn matches on the spin at the Seaside against a Blackpool side who are also desperate for the points.
But a draw may not be enough for Wednesday, with the travelling Wednesday fans surely wanting nothing but three points to send them a long way to survival - and above Blackpool in the process.
Owls boss Brian Laws told the Sheffield Star:
'Blackpool will think this is winnable, because they're at home. If they can win, that would put them somewhere near safety. If we win, it drags them right back into it.
'There's everything to play for. There's everything to lose as well. We have to have the right attitude and treat the game as a cup final.'
Blackpool boss Simon Grayson told the official BFC site:
'It's took a long time for this club to get to where we are and we don't want to give it up lightly. If it means the fans getting even more behind us, which is something difficult to do because they've been fantastically behind us all season, well that little bit could help.'
The Seasiders could be boosted with the return of Claus Jorgensen who missed out Blackpool's last clash with Cardiff City.
And Blackpool boss Grayson has no fresh injury concerns going in to the clash, with John Hills still missing out against his former club, while Keigan Parker has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
The tricky attacker was rumoured to be a target of Owls boss Brian Laws during the summer and was a key figure in helping the Seasiders to promotion last season - and is certain to be key in keeping them up.
The Owls' injury list doesn't get any easier for Brian Laws, with Deon Burton the latest name to be on the treatment table - making the Owls boss sweat over the fitness of five of his charges.
Burton suffered a scratched cornea in the 1-1 draw with Plymouth Argyle on Monday night and Laws will give the striker until as late as possible to prove his fitness, with West Brom loanee Bartosz Slusarski ready to come in.
Wade Small also picked up a hamstring injury on Monday night but will also undergo a late test, alongside Steve Watson, Richard Hinds and Graham Kavanagh - who could also be set to return.
The Chelsea loanee may have been ineffective on Monday night but the Israeli has been bagging the goals in attack recently and they could be key on Saturday.
Head-To-Head:
Blackpool wins: 23
Wednesday wins: 36
Draws: 12
Last Time Out:
Wednesday 2-1 Blackpool
Hillsborough, 27/10/07
Wes Hoolahan gave Blackpool ane arly lead in the reverse fixture at Hillsborough, before second half strikes from Marcus Tudgay and Richard Hinds rescued all three points for the Owls.
