'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wednesday vs. Watford

Hillsborough, Sheffield

Saturday, September 13

3pm

Preview: Owls v Hornets

Football action returns to the Championship after a fortnight off for international duty, and Wednesday will be hoping to take confidence from their 1-1 draw at Swansea in to Saturday's visit of Watford.

The Owls have had a decent start to the new campaign in light of injury problems within the club, off-the-field problems with the takeover, and the latest news that skipper Richard Wood had a transfer request turned down.

It'll be interesting to see the reception Woody will get when the sides come on to the Hillsborough turf tomorrow, although one thing's for sure - the Wakefield-born defender will be giving his usual 100 per cent as he looks to help the Owls maintain their unbeaten home league record thus far this season.

It won't be easy - after Watford started the season in promising fashion despite losing key players over the pre-season and being written off by bookmakers for promotion this term.

Aidy Boothroyd has guided the Vicarage Road club to an impressive start to the season and the Hornets will be looking to continue the upper hand they've held over Wednesday in recent seasons.

Vital Quotes:

Wednesday Team News:

Wednesday boss Brian Laws is likely to tinker with his squad following their 1-1 draw at Swansea City last time out in the Championship.

Jermaine Johnson is likely to return to the starting eleven in place of Jimmy Smith, bur the question is where?

Johnson has been touted as a possible striker for the visit of the Hornets with Deon Burton being involved in international action for Jamaica in midweek.

Francis Jeffers could also return to the Owls' squad following his lengthy lay-off, but would only command a place on the bench.

Laws has no fresh injury concerns going in to the match.

Player to watch: Jermaine Johnson

JJ could well be the key player for the Owls with his pace, whether it be on the wing or in a striker role.

Watford Team News:

Watford will be without loan signing Grzegorz Rasiak for the trip to S6, with the Southampton hitman out with a shoulder injury picked up in their clash with Charlton recently.

Former Owl, and Blade, Leigh Bromby will return to the ground where he made his first league start in football, and is sure to get a hot reception from the Wednesday faithful for his move to the red and white side of the city.

Former Rotherham United striker Will Hoskins could also return to South Yorkshire should Boothroyd include him in his sqiad after recovering from a groin injury.

But Mat Sadler is likely to miss out.

Player to watch: Leigh Bromby

The obvious one that Wednesday fans will be keeping a close eye on - and no doubt giving a huge earful to - but as well as his links with the Steel City, Bromby's long throws could cause problems in and around the Wednesday box.

bladesforlife1889

benowl

bladesforlife1889
Unlucky defeat today pigforlife , what a shame! That hulse lad looks good where did they get him from?
greeny9
Can't remember the last time Jewell won a league game, Was it for Wigan when they sent the pigs down?
greeny9
First clean sheet in 15 league games or so. I'm pretty happy. And Greeny, what's up with you, kid? I don't know how old are you but what you're doing is childish. BFL just came to congratulate us with the win (it may be hypocritical, but the guy is trying at least) and what you're doing is pushing him to insult you back. Then you will moan that he should not be allowed to come here. Stupid.
RatherRandomOwl
yeh and look at the brainless slagging off comments!! you tail ends wonder why you get so much abuse. RatherRandomOwl - exactlly mate good to know that there is some decent wendyites out there who actually relise that there own fans are total idiots!!
bladesforlife1889
anyway randomowl - what was brombs like? did he get a hostile reception?
bladesforlife1889
greenypig - i see another cracking attendance at swillsborough again - JUST 17,000!! ha ha
bladesforlife1889
BFL you might want to have a word with Sharpblade as to the way he conducts himself on here. Granted you come on here and all you seem to want to do is talk about football, but he just cant help himself by making childish comments and is going to right way to getting barred. Vital admin are already keeping an eye on him, and no I havent said anything to them, so if he wants to carry on using Vital Football then he wants to try and keep his mouth shut.

gotta say it is funny tho, derby not won in 361 days n they beat the blunts with an ex blade scoring the goal and jewell gettin his first win since that glorious afternoon :D:D
smiggyswfc
Randomowl, if you've seen pigforlife's track record you'd know he was a two faced wind up merchant who deserves no credit or respect. At least i don't pretend to like the d1ckhead or engage him in conversation. You know he's upset when he has to pull the attendance card. I'd rather get 3 points in front of 17,000 than lose infront of 30.000
greeny9
i agree sharpblade can go a little bit far a times but honnestly there is no reasoning with you lot. a small section of you are god lads but most of you are agressive, insulting and cause trouble first with you cocky comments. my problem is that if you dish it out then you should be able to take the comments back. the huge problem is that you carn't which results in you complaining to vital directly. i congratulated you guys earlier on, and received abuse - i rest my case!!
bladesforlife1889
most of you lot with the exception of a few need to change your ways, perhaps then you wouldnt get as much backlash. thats all it as as its fueled by you lot in the first place. i have kept my word regards to commenting and constant bickering. like i said earlier, i complimented you for the good win today to receive a load of abusive comments back. don't know how you can moan when you act like this!! anyway i've said my bit so i'm all up for talking footy in a sensible manner if anyone's interested?
bladesforlife1889
greeny, I am aware of bladesforlife's record. I come here and read most of the comments most of the time, although I rarely comment myself. That does not excuse you. And I agree about the attendance. I'll take 3 points even if it's in front of 17 blades watching.
RatherRandomOwl
it almost like you guys are perfect with a clean track record. come its 6 of one, and half a dozen from another.
