Wednesday vs. Barnsley

Hillsborough, Sheffield

Tuesday, February 17

7.45pm

Preview: Owls v Barnsley

Wednesday go into their third South Yorkshire derby in the space of 10 days when struggling Barnsley are the visitors to Hillsborough.

The Owls will be looking to bounce back from their 1-0 reverse at Doncaster Rovers at the weekend with three points against the Tykes.

But it'll be no easy feat by any means, with Simon Davey's men desperate for the points in their battle against relegation, and eager for match action after weeks without a game.

Vital Quotes:

Wednesday Team News:

Wednesday have no fresh injury concerns going into the re-arranged clash but could welcome back striker Francis Jeffers from suspension.

The former Arsenal and Everton man has missed the last three games after his red card at Nottingham Forest and is set to return to the squad, although the form of Marcus Tudgay and Leon Clarke in attack could mean he has to settle for a spot on the bench.

Mark Beevers will undergo a late fitness test after picking up a knock to his ankle at Doncaster but is expected to start against his hometown club.

Player to watch: Jermaine Johnson

Johnson wasn't at his best in the derby clash at Doncaster but will be key for the Owls' attack against Barnsley.

Barnsley Team News:

Barnsley have bolstered their squad with the additions of three players before the close of the transfer window, with all likely to go into the squad for the trip to S6.

Michael Mifsud, Adam Hammill and Andranik Teymourian have all arrived at Oakwell to bolster Simon Davey's squad, and the trio will all be looking to impress on their debuts.

Player to watch: Michael Mifsud

The tricky attacker has always been a problem to Wednesday defences recently and it's likely to be more of the same on Tuesday night after his move from Coventry City recently.
