Owls v Blackpool preview

Wednesday
vs.
Blackpool

Hillsborough

Tuesday, November 6

7.45pm

Wednesday will target a third Championship win on the spin on Tuesday night when Blackpool visit Hillsborough.

The Owls have moved out of the relegation zone thanks to back-to-back victories and will go into the clash with the managerless Tangerines in confident mood.

It could be a good time to play the Seasiders, who have lost boss Ian Holloway to Crystal Palace and suffered a 4-1 loss at Derby County on Saturday following his departure.

Wednesday Team News:

Owls boss Dave Jones will have to decide whether to stick with a winning side or make changes with the Blackpool clash being the second of three games inside six days.

Back-to-back wins have propelled the Owls up the table but they follow the clash with the Tangerines with a trip to Middlesbrough on Friday night.

Paul Corry is a doubt anyway after suffering an ankle injury in the weekend win over Peterborough United. Corry came off midway through the first half and was replaced by Rhys McCabe, himself returning from injury. McCabe could get the nod to start if Corry doesn't get the green light.

Other than that Wednesday have no fresh injury or suspension concerns, but will have players such as Gary Madine, Rodri and Jermaine Johnson all chomping at the bit to feature from the off.

Player to watch: Miguel Llera

Llera will be playing against one of his former clubs and will be keen to impress. He proved his worth in defence and in attack at the weekend, scoring what turned out to be the decisive goal against Posh.

Blackpool Team News:

Caretaker Blackpool boss Steve Thompson will be charged with the job of helping his team bounce back from their weekend Pride Park thrashing.

The Seasiders lost 4-1 and will be hurting from the loss, as well as the departure of manager Ian Holloway, the man who took them to the Premier League.

Ian Evatt is definitely sidelined through suspension for the trip to Hillsborough but defender Craig Cathcart could return from a calf injury.

Owls fans will be pleased to see veteran striker Kevin Phillips struggling for fitness. The former Sunderland man has a good goalscoring record against the Owls but is struggling with a calf injury.

Player to watch: Tom Ince

Blackpool may be struggling without a permanent manager in the league but they still have quality in their squad, including attacking threat Tom Ince. The Owls defence will need to be at the top of their game to subdue him.

Peterboro' arrived on a bit of a roll, B'pool are at a low ebb. We should approach the match accordingly. I think we were wrong to show too much respect on Saturday and that goes double tonight. This lot are hurting, so let's hurt them some more! We're starting to look solid at the back (at last!) so getting to half time at 0-0 only flatters our visitors anyway and encourages them to believe they might do better second half. So come on Dave, tell our lads to go for the jugula from the first whistle, score early and build on it, don't hold back. And if Bothroyd is still struggling for match fitness then I think in JJ, Mayor and Pecnik we have three better wingers who're simply dying to give it a go, so why not oblige?
