Preview: SWFC Vs Leicester

Another week, another relegation six-pointer for the Owls - this time in the form of Craig Levein's Leicester City...

Vital Quotes:

Paul Sturrock told the official SWFC site:

''I believe Leicester are the under-achievers of the division compared to the standard of player they have. On paper they've put together a talented squad - anyone would say they are underachieving for what they've got.''

''I'm hoping they haven't kick-started their season with that performance (against Spurs) and result. I really hope it's the inconsistent Leicester that turns up.''

Craig Levein told the official LCFC site:

''It is important that we don't get carried away by one result and one performance. The players are in good spirits as you would expect, but it's now all about the Sheffield Wednesday match. The Spurs win won't mean anything without getting a result at Hillsborough.''

Wednesday Team News:

Wednesday will welcome back on-loan 'keeper Nicky Weaver to the side after he was cup-tied for the game with Charlton last week. Manager Paul Sturrock will make a last minute decision on whether to stick with current number one David Lucas in goal after his return from injury, or to recall Weaver to the Owls net.

Another player welcomed back to the Owls squad is Deon Burton, who was also cup-tied due to him playing for former club Rotherham in the earlier rounds. Burton is likely to regain his place up front along with Marcus Tudgay. Burton is likely to get a hot reception from the Leicester fans after his spell with neighbours Derby County and is sure to want to score against his former rivals.

John Hills will be available for selection after serving his one-match ban against Charlton. Hills has been an integral part of the rejuvinated Owls team after recovering from injury last month.

Former Leicteser left-back Peter Gilbert will be desperate to play against his former collegues after moving from the Foxes last month. Gilbert sustained a hamstring strain last week and was forced to sit out the Charlton game but is likely to regain his place for the match.

Steve Maclean has said he is desperate to be included in the 16 following his pre-seaosn injury which kept him out for six months, but Paul Sturrock is unlikely to risk Macleans fitness after what happened to JP McGovern earlier in the season.

Drew Talbot has also returned to first team training but is unlikely to feature in the squad.

Steve Adams injury will continue to rule him out for a few more weeks, so Glenn Whelen is likely to continue in the middle of the park alongside Burton O'Brien. Richie Partridge and Chris Brunt are the one's likely to provice the ammunition for the front two on the wings.

Player to watch: Deon Burton

Burton will be desperate to get on the scoresheet against his former rivals. Burton spent many years at Derby County, and is likely to get a hot reception from the Foxes fans. He set up strike partner Marcus Tudgay to score on his debut, and missed last week's cup match, so will want to get off the mark this weekend.

Leicester Team News:

Visitors Leicester City face making big changes to the side that beat Spurs in the cup last week.

Key man Joey Gudjonsson is suspended from the game after picking up five bookings in previous matches. Gudjonsson has been a leading figure for the Foxes this season, but may be leaving the Walkers Stadium at the end of the season as he reaches the end of his contract. Interest has been shown from Holland.

Another key man missing for the Foxes is the on-loan Ryan Smith. The Arsenal winger has made a big impression with Foxes fans, who are calling for manager Craig Levein to sign the youngster permanently. His loan spell with the club has been extended recently to the delight of the Leicester faithful.

Another blow was dealt to Levein's selection problems when Momo Sylla was refused permission to play for the foxes because of his commitments to Guinea in the African cup of nations. The foxes had previously agreed a deal with the nation to allow Sylla back for the Wednesday match, but have u-turned on their decision.

Former Manchester City midfielder Danny Tiatto will also be missing from the side after sustaining a hamstring injury.

Leicester City completed the signing of Matty Fryatt this weekend but the former Walsall striker is rated as 50/50 for the clash. Mark De Vries and Elvis Hammond are likely to start should Fryatt not be available. Iain Hume is also available for selection but didn't feature in the Spurs cup clash.

Player to watch: Mark De Vries

De Vries isn't the most favoured player at the Walkers stadium, but showed against Spurs what a handful he can be for even the best defenders in the world. De Vries also bagged two goals against Wednesday in the last fixture at the Walkers stadium.
