The Valley, London
Saturday, August 25
Wednesday are still looking for their points of the new season - but the Addicks have also made a similar start to their campaign with Alan Pardew's pre-season title favourites yet to bag a victory in their opening matches of the season.
But a victory down at the Valley would lift spirits in S6 in a big way following two dissapointing results against Ipswich and Wolves in the last two weeks.
And Owls fans making the long trip down to London could well be in line to see a trio of new Owls making their debuts as boss Brian Laws looks to bolster his squad ahead of the match.
Addicks boss Alan Pardew said:
'Sheffield Wednesday are a different type of team, and it will be a different type of game.
'The Championship throws up these radically different scenarios on a regular basis. It's very different to the Premier League in terms of the contrasts between opposing clubs and we need to adjust quickly.
'I'm not saying our game and style of play will be better suited to Sheffield Wednesday, I don't know. But we will certainly have to be aware we need to be stronger.'
Wednesday will come up against two familiar faces on Saturday when former loanee and die-hard Wednesday fan Nicky Weaver takes his place in the Charlton goal and former Owls defender Madjid Bougherra lines up in the Addicks defence.
But Charlton boss Alan Pardew does have some injury problems ahead of the clash with the Owls.
Charlton will be without the injured Yassin Moutaouakil who will be a big miss for Athletic, while Jose Semedo or Jonathan Fortune are likely to replace him.
Zheng Zhi is in contention for his first appearance but new striker Luke Varney is still missing from the squad after picking up an ankle injury since his move from Crewe.
But former Portsmouth striker Svetoslav Todorov is available for selection again after a niggling hamstring problem.
Charlton have a number of players to look out for on the pitch but no doubt Owls fan and former player Nicky Weaver is likely to have a superb game in between the sticks to keep the Owls attack out. Remember - 'Weaver, is a Wednesday fan'...
Owls boss Brian Laws is still awaiting the news on three players who he hoped he'd have at least one or two in his squad for the trip to London at the weekend.
Reading defender Sam Sodje was all set to complete his move to Hillsborough in time after agreeing a fee and wages with the player but the centre-back is yet to finalise the deal.
And Laws was also in discussions with a midfielder and a striker to bolster his charges ahead of the weekend clash but has yet to complete any deals.
On the injury front, trio Glenn Whelan, Marcus Tudgay and Steve Watson are all hoping to be fit and available for the clash after returning to training with no fresh problems this week.
Francis Jeffers is unlikely to return to his former hunting ground though through injury.
The Jamaican winger has become the Owls' biggest threat going forward following the sale of Chris Brunt to West Brom and he'll need to be on the top of his game to help the Owls to three points on Saturday.
Charlton: Weaver, Moutaouakil (McCarthy 56), Bougherra, Fortune, Thatcher, Sam (Thomas 46), Ambrose, Semedo, Reid, McLeod (Iwelumo 46), Bent. Subs Not Used: Randolph, Zheng.

Last Time Out:
Wednesday 2-4 Charlton
Wednesday were hoping to cause an upset in the FA Cup 3rd round back in 2006 but Premiership Charlton came through thanks to a brace from Dennis Rommedahl and goals from Matt Holland and Darren Bent. Paul Heckingbottom grabbed an unlikely brace for Wednesday in reply.
Wednesday wins: 16
Charlton wins: 14
