Millwall vs. Wednesday

The New Den

Preview: Millwall Vs SWFC

Wednesday have won the previous two relegation six pointer's, now they face the tough task of travelling to Millwall to pick up a third...

Vital Quotes:

Paul Sturrock told

''Their manager has instilled a fantastic team spirit and a real high tempo performance. They work their tails off and we've got to match that onslaught bigtime.''

Burton O'Brien told

''Even with so many games left in the season, it's going to be crucial, if we get three points it gives us a bit of breathing space. If we win. we'd also bring teams above us back in to it aswell, so it works both ways.''

Millwall Team News:

Millwall gave substitute appearances to new transfer window signings Berry Powel and Lloyd Dyer during the midweek draw with Cardiff City, but boss Dave Tuttle may promote the pair to the first team.

The return of Jody Morris will be a massive boost to the London side, after the former Chelsea and Leeds midfielder served a one-match ban for the match against Cardiff City.

The good news for Wednesday is that former Blades striker Carl Asaba will miss the game through injury, as will former Fulham striker Barry Hayles. Barry Cogan and Josh Simpson will also miss out through injury.

Player to watch: Jody Morris

Everyone knows Jody Morris from his time at Chelsea and Leeds United, and he's current running the midfield at Millwall. The Owls midfield will certainly be up for a tough time against him.

Wednesday Team News:

Paul Sturrock will be missing John Hills after pulling him hamstring in the match with Luton midweek. Hills will be a big blow to the Owls after impressing on tyhe left wing, but Richie Partridge may be given a chance on the right wing, with Chris Brunt returning to his natural left midfield role.

Glenn Whelen will undergo a late fitness test after he missed the Luton defeat through injury. Whelen could make the squad to travel down to London but on-loan Southampton player Yoann Folly is likely to retain his place in the centre of midfield.

Fellow loanee Leon Best will be pushing for a starting place after coming on as sub in midweek. Wednesday have not scored in the last two games and Paul Sturrock may wish to make changes to his front two.

Steve Maclean may be fit for the bench but is unlikely to start after Paul Sturrock said he doesn't want to rush the Scot. Macleans presence on the bench will certainly be a boost for the 1700 Owls fans making the journey to the New Den.

Other than that Paul Sturrock has no fresh injury concerns.

Player to watch: Chris Brunt

Despite some below-par performances of late, Brunt will still proviude the best option for a Wednesday goal, as he still leads the goalscoring charts with six this season.
