Wednesday put their recent losing streak firmly to bed with a 2-1 victory over Peterborough United at Hillsborough.
Ross Barkley continued his good goalscoring form with his third strike in two games and Miguel Llera also netted for the Owls before George Boyd scored what turned out to be a consolation goal for Posh.
It wasn't a pretty game but a second win on the spin and first home league win since August was just what the doctor ordered for Wednesday, who climbed out of the relegation zone.
Owls boss Dave Jones stuck with the same starting eleven that eased to victory at Ipswich Town last week, although midfielder Paul Corry was hauled off early on through injury to be replaced by the returning Rhys McCabe.
Wednesday, no doubt continuing the momentum from their victory last time out, started brightly and Michail Antonio and Jay Bothroyd both had early efforts on goal.
Posh, who'd won four of their previous six matches, didn't threaten Owls goalkeeper Chris Kirkland much in what was largely a less-than-inspiring, although they had their fair share of possession.
The home defence, which kept their first clean sheet of the season last time out, defended Kirkland's goal well and only Lee Tomlin could fashion a chance on goal.
Wednesday needed something special to brighten up the game and they got it with the first move of the second half.
Straight from the kick-off Lewis Buxton pumped a long ball forward and Barkley got on the end of a flick-on to float his effort into the back of the net to open the scoring in front of the Kop.
Wednesday had more chances to extend their lead and had claims for a penalty waved away when Antonio got free of his man inside the box and shaped to shoot before seemingly being hauled down inside the box.
It was the first of numerous spot-kick claims from the hosts in the second half, with Wednesdayites behind the goal appealing when Antonio was felled again minutes later, while Llera was also seemingly pushed in the box from a corner kick.
Wing wizard Antonio was in the thick of the action again when he was sent through on goal by a brilliant McCabe ball but tapped his effort agonisingly wide of goal.
It was all Wednesday and they duly doubled their advantage on 73 minutes.
Posh initially dealt with the Wednesday set-piece but moments later Antonio sent a superb cross into the danger area with the outside of his boot and Llera was there to head home and celebrate in front of the Kop.
The Owls had barely finished celebrating before Posh got themselves straight back into the game, however.
Darren Ferguson's men won a set-piece and, although the Owls defence half-cleared the danger, Boyd was positioned at the edge of the box to drill through a sea of bodies to reduce the deficit.
Posh couldn't find a leveller, however, and Wednesday held on to their lead with relative ease to bag a crucial three points.
