Wednesday ensured themselves a spot in Round Four of the FA Cup after scorers Barry Bannan and Atdhe Nuhiu clinched a 2-1 victory over Fulham.

Wednesday midfielder Bannan superbly fired the hosts in front before Moussa Dembele netted for Fulham to swiftly equalise. Nuhiu, on as a second half sub won the game for the Owls to send them into Monday evenings draw.

As the game started the Owls started to dominate the early proceedings and had the game's first major chance in the ninth minute when, after good work from Kieran Lee lead to Owls captain Glenn Loovens ballooning the ball over when it looked easier to score.

Fulham started to obtain a foothold as the half went on and witnessed the travelling side miss chances via Jamie O'Hara and Shaun Hutchinson. Joao had a chance in the 24yh minute from Sougou`s cross but Hutchinson made a vital challenge to deny the Portuguese international.

After a series of back and forth, it was time for Bannan to shine as the Scottish midfielder smashed home a cracking half-volley after hood work from Joao. But moments later the game was level as Wednesday allowed McCormack through on goal and his saved shot was smashed home by Dembele to bring the game level.

In the second half, Fulham duo McCormack and Dembele continued to threaten as the Owls makeshift defence needed to get a grip. And the home side had Wildsmith to thank as he denied Dembele a second Cottagers goal. Wednesday awoke and replied with a Wallace corner that was headed just over by Vincemt Sasso.

Fulham had a glorious chance to take the lead again but Alexander Kacaniklic spurned the 57th minute chance from just six yards when like Loovens in the first half it looked easier to score. Nuhiu made the West London side pay as he won the game with a volleyed effort after the Cottagers backline failed to deal with the ball into the box.

Lucas Joao should have put the game beyond any doubt in the 83rd minute but he could only put a pull-back from substitute Jeremy Helan wide of the target.

Wednesday have now recorded their third win over Fulham this season and now enable their fans to start dreaming of another home tie against a Premier League giant.
