In the clash of Championship playoff chasers, it ended all square at Hillsborough between Wednesday and Burnley. A second half strike from Kieran Lee cancelled out Andre Gray`s opener for the visitors. Both teams fought hard to win all three-points but a draw seemed a fair result and kept both team were the want to be at the top end of the Championship table.

The result leaves the hosts a point outside the Championship play-offs, while Burnley are three points behind second-placed Middlesbrough, having played two games more.

Burnley started with a bang with Gray adding his 18th goal of the season on in the 3rd minute in front of the Kop. After that Burnley continued to have the better of the first half, Westwood saving superbly on his line from Vokes' header from a corner. Wednesday once again had a penalty appeal waved away by referee Woolmer after Daniel Pudil went down in the box.

After half-time the tide changed somewhat with Wednesday pressing the issue and they were rewarded in the 48th minute, when Nuhiu controlled his header from a Bannan ball in to Lee who tucked the ball home to level the scores.

Both sides had chances to go in front, with Wednesday pushing more with chances failing to a host of players who just failed to convert.

New loan signing Aiden McGeady came on for his debut in the final few minutes after joining the club on transfer deadline day, but didn't have an impact in the closing stages.

The final score means now that the Owls have not lost in the Championship at home since the end of August (boro), going 12 games unbeaten, and are level on points with Birmingham, who they visit on Saturday in what could prove to be a pivotal game in the Championship playoff charge.

Star Player

Kieran Lee
Never stopped running and has informed down his opponents in the centre of the park. Took his goal well as he makes good on his summer statement to be among the goals more this season.
