Owls Beaten By Revengeful Seagulls At Hillsborough

1 - 2

3pm Saturday October 1st, 2016

Attendance: 25,605

Brighton gained 'some` revenge over the Owls as they secured the club's first ever victory at Hillsborough. Goals from Sam Baldock and Anthony Knockaert scoring his fifth of the season, despite Gary Hooper injury time reply. It wasn't enough for the Owls to come back against one for the division's top teams.

An even opening quarter was ended as Brighton broke the deadlock when Lewis Dunk found Baldock who beautifully chipped a stranded Westwood and mocked the Seagulls` last trip to S6 by 'injuring` himself in the celebration.

Owls newboy playing on the left wing, Adam Reach carved himself a great opening in the box, as he cut inside onto his right foot bis shot was parried by Seagulls keeper David Stockdale. To Jack Hunt who arrived and too saw his shot was blocked, but by wing back Bong.

After Half-time Wednesday swapped keepers as Westwood who'd struggled with injury in the first half was replaced by academy product Cameron Dawson. As the half wore on Tom Lees thought he had scored the equaliser from a Wallace corner but Norwood cleared off the line. The Owls spell of pressure failed to return a goal and they were made to pay as Knockaert doubled the visitors lead. Bong played a ball across the six yard box and Knockaert was on hand to smash home much to the displeasure of Dawson and the Kop behind.

As the Owls sought a rapid response Reach missed as he smashed a shot over from a looping cross in the six-yard box. Wallace fired over from distance as it looked like Brighton's clean sheet run would continue. But as the clock hit 95 minutes Gary Hooper slotted the ball through a crowded area to gain some merit for his sides endeavours.
