Sheffield Wednesday signed the much coveted Semedo on a three-year deal after falling out of contract at Charlton Athletic. He became Gary Megson's fourth summer signing, alongside Rob Jones, David Prutton and Julian Bennett.

He is a combative holding midfielder who signed for Charlton in 2007 from European giants Sporting Lisbon, going on to make 150 appearances for the London club.

The Portugese player proved an immensely popular performer at the Valley and ended the 2010-11 campaign as the Addicks' Player of the Year. He was also appointed captain by new manager Chris Powell during the second half of last season.
