Clarke is better utilised as a substitute, he needs to work on his finishing, his chances to goal ratio is very poor. Purse needs to be sent on holiday so Beevers or Hinds can rejuvinate our defence. Granty obviously thinks so, what's the betting BL still won't drop him.

i had high hopes for purse when we signed him but he's been nothing but a hinderance to the team. makes very very amatuer mistakes that any pub club player could do adequately. we need beevers back in. not only to reward beevers for his hard work in the reserves and in training but to show purse that he isn't untouchable. maybe it would make him work and fight for the shirt. as for clake, he has to be the most hit and miss player i have ever seen in a wednesday shirt. against united he was sent on at half time and looked like a 10yr old in his first ever match. he looked like he was wondering what he had to do. then against cardiff he looked like a million pound player. but yet again at derby back to being a 10yr old. hes a nice enough bloke but out of his depth a bit at championship level

Entirely agree with the above apart from I didn't have high hopes for Purse. I was dubious why Cardiff would allow a 'Born Leader' and 'Key Defender' to leave their club. Brian can obviously see something the Cardiff staff and myself can't , that said , any player who Don's the blue and white shirt will get my backing and time to prove they are worthy. Unfortunately the time is running out for my expectations of Purse and with a young hungry centre back on the bench i am now feeling a change is needed.I think Brian expected to lose Wood in the summer and Purse was his replacement, but while we have Wood and Beevers, please Brian play them both and lets get back our confident , solid back four (including Simek) UP THE OWLS !!

the only reason we took purse was because he was free laws thought he was getting an experienced player when in fact he looks over the hill and has failed to tighten up the defence we dont look much better than last season all we can do as fans is get behind the team a week on saturday and try and get 3 points off coventry which wont be easy.

Having sat through yesterdays performance decided to give it 24 hours before going into print about it. We had a very good defence at homelast season but lacked confidence on the road and this was dueto lack of confidence or shortage of "know how". Hence one could see the logic in acquiring an experienced player at the back who would bring on the young players. I was not happy when we signed Purse as I know a keen Cardiff fan who had said his legs had gone and had been a liability for them. This season our defence has been worse than last season it lacks balance and always looks likely to concede who ever the opposition. Purse has no pace and appears to balloon the ball when heading, also he is constantly out of position as he does not realise his legs will not get him to the place they would 3 years ago. Buxton and Purse at the back on the right hand side have a considerable lack of pace and with Gray in front being non too sharp these days it is a dream for an attacking team who havesome pace down their left flank. Chants of Beevers in the first half at Derby made Laws look uncomfortable and whilst I am a supporter of Mr Laws if he does not change the defence he will be out of work as every manager worth his salt will exploit our defensive flaws. Replacement of Purse with Beevers is something which has to be done with immediate effect but we need a new right back if we are to climb the league. I would look to the loan market I am certain there are suitable individuals available who could do a better job than Buxton. I support Wednesday and will get behind the team whoever is picked but yesterday was trying and the points made above by other contributors illustrate the problem has been noticed by all in attendance.

That is as balanced and fair a representation of the situation as I can imagine Caversham. I agree whole heartedly that if BL insists on standing by his captain then he may lose all the good will the supporters feel for our manager. Clearly he has failed to improve our defence (coaching and time was what was required rather than a wise old head), Buxton's form is a particular victim of the new look right side of defence. In addition to this failure Purse is obviously proving to be devisive within the team as he looks to shunt the blame elsewhere, witness the stand-up row with Grant yesterday. I have watched and rewatched yesterdays goals, it's not pretty viewing. I have always maintained that Purse could be a useful squad player and still do BUT the damage is done. BL needs to start by dropping him, Purse needs to follow up by apologising to Grant, then we need to have a collective look in the mirror because from the manager down our team is underperforming this season. Two weeks to sort it out young man! (this originally read F*** off Purse but I decided that getting all sweary on the subject was counter productive).

glad to see things are back to normal with the blades on top and another sheff derby win!! utter fluke last season piggys back down to earth eh? ha ha. everyone over here knows of the blades but not wendy it just goes to show who really is the biggest club even as far as the yanks are concerned!!
bladesforlife1889

Thought we might hear something from you pfl after your deby win. Come out of the cupboard have we now you? Wouldn't go gloating just yet, not in the greatest form yourselfs after the derby win and lucky to get 2 points from your last 2 games.
will it ever happen
I agree with all comments on here today (except PFL) Laws said to the BBC after the match that no one is untouchable after he was asked weather he would drop Purse. Its time Frankie went in at RB he should be fit by now!!!
