Agreed :phew!: Feeling the glow that comes with relief I even stayed up to watch the FLS, feeling sympathy and sharing the relief of others in all the right places. Then they finally showed our goal highlights and before I could hit the 'off' button the screen was filled with Mr. Morose, the grumpiest man in football. Yes, you b*$tard said I. We survived in spite of your best efforts to see out the season with one finger on the self-destruct button and bullet holes in both feet! If it's true what they say that style of play is a reflection of the manager's personality then I hope MM reaches one or two conclusions before subjecting us to another season like that one. Incidentally, and this might become a trivia question in the future, has Wednesday ever fielded an older side than the one listed above? Average age over 30. In fact, take Helan out of the equation and our youngest starter was Lita at a still-wet-behind-the-ears twenty-eight. Well it's one way of tackling problems with the old lairning cairve, nairves or naivety but I'd hardly call it building for the future. Wishing you all a nice relaxing summer :0)

Well said OurMaurice. Since we have had the new coach Gray there performances have been better but he can only field from what's in the squad. After seeing the successes and failures of Last years signings, would you be prepared to stump up a few millions in new signings? Quite a dilemma for MM. I wouldn't!

is the picture really that bleak? how good was the squad e got promoted with? before DJ came in last season we had fallen of the pace and seemed destined for the playoffs which would most likely have seen us remaining in league 1. we sign some new players in the summer cos that squad wasn't strong enugh for the championship and finished on 58 points (10 shy of the playoffs) in a highly competitive division. anyone who wouldn't have taken that before the season started is deluded as to where we are as a club. looking back those two long runs of defeats obviously damaged us but we were only battered / ou classed on a couple of occasions and on another day would have taken points out of some of those games. yes jones is pretty grey and doesn't come across well when interviewed bit then he is not a news anchorman. who could have done any better? we are improving, we are competitive and we are not easy to beat. we need a decent pair of strikers who we own but I wouldn't say there is too much wrong.

I've said this before but I don't think our promotion squad was as poor as Jones would have us believe. Squad numbers were light, we were reliant on loan signings back then too (for different reasons) but we had a good strong side with high fitness levels, excellent team spirit and an identity we supporters were able to associate with and I believe that's what played a huge part in our brilliant home record. Don't forget the nucleus of that side started well too (four wins and a draw) but the first 'blip' seemed like the opportunity DJ was waiting for. I'll accept we had a few unfortunate injuries but the speed with which he dismantled that side and undid all the good work that had gone on before, alienating players and (some) fans in the process, smacks of resentment bordering on obsession. Everything that followed got kind of messy. At least we stayed up but I'd hardly call it progress. That's my opinion folks!

I agree with Hirsty and his shinpads. OldMaurice, you don't half spout some dribble.

I think Dave Jones was happy with the point at Ipswich by the way

Thing is andymac, he looks happy even when he isn't. He just has one of those happy faces. More to the point though, and speaking as a 9%er, when are we going to have a new Current Site Poll?
